Quick Info
Born to Durkan and Fayna Irongut, Kaigan is descended from a long line of the Ironforge Guard. A veteran of the Second and Third Wars, the First War saw Kaigan serving in the Ironforge Guard. He even obtained the rank of Sergeant. During the Second War, Uther Lightbringer, began to spread the faith of the Light. During a visit to Ironforge, Kaigan was on duty as crowd control, and was able to listen to Uther's sermon. Kaigan was enlightened and soon after the end of the Second War, he migrated to Stormwind City to help in the reconstruction. Upon it's completion, he entered into the service of the Knights of the Silver Hand.
Kaigan had the great honor of training alongside Arthas Menethil, Prince of Lordaeron, and watched the young man grow up. However, he was filled with a great rage, when he learn of the death of Muradin Bronzebeard at the hands of the lunatic Arthas. He swore revenge on Arthas, and soon returned to Ironforge to help prepare defenses against any attacks by the Scourge. When Uther was murdered at the hands of the Lich King, his rage was renewed, and he set himself to climbing the ranks of the Knighthood.
At the end of the Third War, Kaigan returned to the Cathedral of Light, where the Knighthood was in the midst of a crisis. With the Lich King hiding out in Northrend, and the Scourge and Forsaken running amok in Lordaeron, and lack of a strong leader, the Knighthood would succumb to a great schism. Several members of the Knighthood (all former citizens of Lordaeron) demanded an immediate offensive against the undead. The commanders, however, were more concerned with shoring up the weakened defenses of the Alliance nations. And so these disgruntled Knights formed the Scarlet Crusade, and split from the Knighthood. Kaigan was soon sent to the frontlines to deal with attacks from the insane fanatics. Respite came when High Inquisitor Fairbanks realized the corruption saturating the Scarlet Crusade. He spoke publicly of this, and many members of the Crusade decided to leave it and they formed the Argent Dawn. The Argent Dawn acted as balancing force against the Crusade, and soon the three orders were left at a standstill.
When the Knighthood, the Crusade, and the Argent Dawn finally came to terms with an uneasy peace, Kaigan returned to Ironforge. He began evangelizing the Faith of the Light, and helped to bring in new recruits to both the Knighthood and Priesthood. Kaigan was one of the greatest supporters for the formation of a Mystic Ward in Ironforge (although at the time it was meant to be a base of operations for the Faith of the Light). The next six years would be spent recruiting Knights, strengthening the defenses of Ironforge and Stormwind, and acting as diplomat between the Church of the Light and the Temple of the Moon in Darnassus. A small respite came three years ago, when the Troggs invaded Gnomeregan. By order of King Magni Bronzebeard, all dwarves of Ironforge were ordered to help in the evacuation of the Gnomish capital. When the crisis ended with the irradiation of Gnomeregan, Kaigan helped the Gnomes acclimatize to their new home in Ironforge.
A year ago, Kaigan formed a guild known as the Order of the Tankard. Travelling from tavern to tavern, this guild appears at first to be a joke to the greater Alliance. However, when ever a disaster hits, the Order of the Tankard is quick to respond and help out their fellow Alliance members. Since their inception, the Order of the Tankard has expanded to over 60 members. While not the largest of guilds, the Order of the Tankard is by far one of the most active, seeking to apply themselves to several different aspects of the Alliance.
Several months ago while travelling through Searing Gorge, Kaigan encountered a human warrior by the name of Kalaran Windblade. A nobleman whose father was slain by the Dark Iron Dwarves of Blackrock Mountain. Sympathizing with the Kalaran, and knowing of the attrocities that the Dark Irons can commit, Kaigan descended into the Cauldron and wreaked Kalaran's vengeance. However, when it was all done and the Cauldron Garrison was forced to evacuate, Kalaran revealed his true form, a drake of the Black Dragonflight, Kalaran the Deciever. Rewarding Kaigan with single black dragonscale, Kalaran flies off into the red skies breathing flames upon the retreating Dark Iron forces. Kaigan has felt a great guilt over this event, and it haunts his dreams to this day. Despite his own biases against the Dark Iron Dwarves, he would never wish such a foe upon them.
Since then, Kaigan has dedicated himself to strengthening the Alliance. Recently he travelled to the Isle of Quel'Danas and joined the Order of the Shattered Sun in their offensive against the resurrected (and completely unhinged) Kael'thas Sunstrider, going so far as to gain the respect of the upper echelons of the Order and gaining the honorary title, "of the Shattered Sun."
During this year's Brewfest, Kaigan and the Order of the Tankard aided Ironforge greatly by defending the festivites from attacks by the disgruntled Dark Iron Dwarves. Then, after making sure the festival was secure, Kaigan along with Wysen led a raid into Blackrock Depths, the headquarters of the Dark Iron empire, and killed the most outspoken leader of party crashers, Coren Direbrew. Though Brewfest was saved, the exposure to the Dark Irons, have caused nightmares of the Searing Gorge massacre to resurface in Kaigan's subconscious. He has begun investigating every piece of information he can gather on the Black Dragonflight, and has become obsessed over Blackrock Mountain.
When not travelling around Azeroth, or venturing into the sundered Outlands, Kaigan returns to Stormwind to find out what the Alliances next move is against the forces arrayed against them. On his most recent return, Kaigan was called to Stormwind Keep. There, returned after many rumors of his death was Varian Wrynn, King of Stormwind. The King having learned of all the new heroes of the Alliance, has been handing out rewards to all of them. He made Kaigan, along with many others, Ambassadors of the Alliance. All was going well for Kaigan, but as he was heading back to his house in the Trade District of Stormwind, he found that his home was gone, replaced with a barbershop. During his travels, Kaigan had forgotten to pay rent, and had lost his home, the stress caused Kaigan to have a small breakdown, and his once black beard, went gray. Kaigan, retreated to his home in Ironforge, and studied his rights and privleges as Ambassador, and soon, with the help of Jammo Bynds, his contact in SI:7; comandeered an old ship from Menethil Harbor. He initiated the crew into the Order of the Tankard and ordered the ship moved to Stormwind Harbor, where he had it docked. This ship, the S.S. Mugchucker, has become not only his new home, but the new headquarters of the Order of the Tankard. With King Wrynn's return, and Lady Prestor's (Onyxia) disappearance, the nightmares of the Cauldron Massacre have returned to haunt Kaigan.
